Worship Arts Ministry
Chancel Choir
Under the excellent direction of Paul Mabrey, this group leads the music at our 11:00 Sunday worship services. It is diverse in age, ranging from college students through seniors. They sing an anthem weekly in worship as well as calls to prayer, etc. They also present special musical presentations during the Christmas and Lenten seasons. Paul leads in a way that is both fun and helps the group perform at it’s very best. They practice on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room.
Celebration Singers, ages 4 through 5th grade
This fun and inspirational group sings the first Sunday of the month at both worship services, during the school year. Led by elementary music teacher Jan Davis, the kids practice from approximately 11:20-11:55 on Sunday Mornings. Energetic music and motions help make the experience awesome for both the performers and the congregation. Children whose families attend the 11:00 service are escorted from the sanctuary directly after the children’s conversation and are brought back during the final hymn.
Handbell Choir
If you would like to make music with the beautiful sound of bells, this is a great place for you to express worship and enjoy fellowship with the other musicians. This group meets in the sanctuary weekly from 6-7 p.m. You do need to have basic music reading skills, but you do not have to have experience playing bells to join this group. Directed by Paul Mabrey, the handbell choir performs periodically in the 11:00 morning worship service.
Praise Band
New Haven’s worship band meets on Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. In addition to playing weekly at the 8:45 a.m. Sunday worship service and various church events, this group plays at other places in the community several times a year. They enjoy playing at Redemption Church-Tulsa, and have played for events for Circle of Care, youth rallies, and more. They also perform annual Easter and Christmas Rockantatas, a special New Haven creation. For more information, contact Paul Mabrey at pscecody@cox.net.
