Sunday School

GodTrak Rotational Sunday School has begun and is a huge success!  The whole children's wing is painted with railroad tracks leading the children through the Bible stories from the old and the new testaments.  There is a Grand Depot room loaded with computers, a drama/movie room with a stage complete with sliding curtains where the kids can act out the stories that they are learning as well as watch films about those stories.  The latest addition is a complete kitchen where the children are supervised in preparing foods from the bible times and tasting them.  This interactive approach to learning about the Bible is the latest teaching method in Sunday Schools around the country and seems to reach each child in new, fresh ways.  They not only hear the stories of the Bible, but experience them in many different ways.

Worship Services

Children are always welcome in worship!  Children's Bibles are available in each pew, and each Sunday, we have a Children's Moment time when all children are invited to the front of the church. We also invite your children to check out The Kids' Korner located in the narthex, which is stocked with worship bags, paper activities, books, and colored pencils.

Following the Children's Moment, children aged three through first grade are invited to go to the Chapel for a JAM Session.

JAM Session

JAM Session is a special worship time for children aged three through first grade. After the Children's Moment in "big" church, the children move to the Chapel for a special worship time geared just for them. Filled with music, stories, prayer time, and an offering, the JAM Session helps children prepare for when they begin to attend the Sanctuary service.

JAM Sessions are not held on Communion Sundays, so that families can enjoy Communion together.

Bible Blast

Bible Blast is a fun and exciting program that teaches God’s word to children aged four through sixth grade. It is centered around families reading the Bible together daily. Parents read a story from The Picture Bible to their children each week and review the quizzing questions and answers in the Bible Blast notebook. Then, the children meet together for a high-energy, motivational, music-filled Bible Blast program from 6:00-7:00 Sunday evenings. Part of the time is spent quizzing the children on their reading for the week and listening to memory verses they have worked on. This is when they can earn prizes. The remaining time is spent in praise and worship as well as a lesson about the week’s Bible reading.

Special Programs

Special Needs Sunday School to Begin this Fall

  • Seeds (Grades K-2) & Sprouts (Grades 3-5) - These small groups are formed for children interested in putting their faith into ACTION!  Seeds meet monthly and Sprouts meet weekly for ten weeks.  Both groups are involved in several outreach projects.
  • Mission and Outreach Opportunities - We are always looking for new ways to help our kids learn to extend God's love.  Past projects have included Operation Christmas Child, Llamas for Bolivia, serving meals at the Day Center for the Homeless, volunteering at Restore Hope, collecting food, books toys, & school supplies for families in need, etc...
  • Children's Choirs - Our Cherub Choir (grades K-2) and Carol Choir (grades 3-5) meet weekly during the school year.  They share their gifts of music & song both in and beyond the church.
  • Christmas Pageant - Children of all ages are invited to express God's love by taking part in this fun and meaningful event.  The congregation looks forward to this special gift from the children each year.
  • Vacation Bible School - Our whole church family pitches in to make VBS a great experience for all involved... children, youth,  and adults!  The church is transformed into fun, theme-related learning centers, and the kids also experience the joy of extending God's love by helping with a VBS outreach project.
  • Fourth of July-We are preparing to celebrate our third year of hosting a fun-filled 4th!  At 10:00 am, anyone (adults, children, babies, pets!) who wishes to be a part of this celebration meets on the front lawn of the church and decorates their bikes and trikes, wagons, strollers, etc.  Wear red, white & blue and join us in a "Neighborhood Parade".  Following the parade through the neighborhood, join us for refreshments, games and an inflatable water slide for the kiddos.  We especially invite the friends and neighbors in the New Haven neighborhood!
  • District Summer Camp - Rising 3rd through 5th graders may attend this fun-filled two and a half days in the midst of God's beautiful world at Camp Egan near Talequah.  This experience is a summer highlight for New haven children!
  • Night Owl Camp - This end-of-the-summer overnight adventure is for 3rd through 6th graders.  Kids become closer to God and each other as they experience lots of outdoor fun in God's world.
  • Babysitting Co-op - Parents helping parents!  When there is enough interest, parents take turns offering group baby sitting one evening per month at the church.  A weekly daytime summer co-op is also an option with sufficient interest.
  • More Summer Events - In addition to the activities listed above, children get the opportunity to participate in other activities such as Movie Days, Park Play Days, , Sunday School Fun Days, Family Outings, Picnics and much, much more.
  • Special Events Galore - A variety of events are planned each year.  They include Children's Day, Sunday School on the Lawn, Advent and Lenten workshops, Praise Craze, Bring-a-friend Fridays, Wonders of Worship (WOW), Trunk or Treat, Epiphany Celebration just to name a few.
