Special Needs Sunday School New Haven UMC now provides a Sunday School class at 9:45 on Sunday mornings for children with special needs. We have several loving teachers who are specially trained to work with these children and are delighted to be able to do so. This provides the parents an opportunity to attend a Sunday School class. All children must be accepted into the program before attending the first time. You may contact the church office for more information.
This ministry serves families with children who are differently-abled. Respite Care provides a fun and safe place for the children, so their parents can have a break from their constant care-giving situations. We meet from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month and welcome anyone who would like to help. Respite
Care currently serves
families within our church and Day School family. There is a tremendous need in our community for Respite Care,
and we would love to grow this ministry with more volunteers!
There are a number of ways you can serve:
There
is no charge to the families who use Respite Care, so we always welcome any
monetary donations. And most of
all, we ask that you pray for this new ministry…for the families who will
be coming and for those who have said “yes” to serving in such a special
way.
We have adopted Carnegie Elementary, our neighborhood school, through the Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education program. As part of this adoption, we can serve as mentors or lunch buddies for Carnegie children, help with special activities, support the teachers and children, and collect various school supplies. Contact Stacey Schifferdecker for more information.
